News of the Month

On behalf of the conference committee and its chairman Jayaram Nadig, and all the Kannadigas of Texas (Houston, Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio), our sympathies are with Alamelu and Thiru Iyengar, on the passing away of Padma Sri.Pu.Thi.Narasimhachar.

Our prayers for the departed soul; may the great soul rest in peace.Sri.

Narasimhachar will live forever in the hearts and minds of all Kannadigas through his yeoman services to the cause of Kannada and Kannada Literature.

The conference committee has issued an official communiqué to the effect.

The conference budget and fundraising subcommittee has finalized the strategies for fundraising towards the millennium conference.

In cooperation with AKKA, the conference committee has created a national panel of volunteers to support the conference objectives.

This panel will involve two key volunteers from each of the states in the US, and each of the provinces in Canada.

These volunteers generally represent the interests of the Kannada Kootas in their respective areas.

The panel would be announced in the coming weeks.

A database has also been designed to list all Kannadigas interested in the Millennium Conference.

This database would be primarily used to track mail-outs, and define the interests of Kannadigas in North America.

Congratulations to the Kannada Koota of Northern California on their Silver Anniversary Celebrations; we wish them all the success.

Announcement

On the momentous occasion of the start of the Millennium, we, the Kannadigas of Texas, in cooperation with the Association of Kannada Kootas of America (AKKA), seek to bring together the Kannada speaking and Kannada loving people of North America and other parts of the world, for a happy reunion to sustain the pride in our culture and heritage.

To achieve the above mission, we are proud to announce the Millennium World Conference on Kannada, at Houston, Texas, on September 2 and 3, 2000.
